Uganda Gorilla Trekking Permits can be obtained through a tour operator or safari company which purchased them from the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) in Uganda and RDB in Rwanda.

How Much Does A Gorilla Permit Cost In Uganda ?

Please note that there are no discounted gorilla permits in Uganda and Rwanda as of 2022.  Uganda gorilla permit goes for $ 800 and Rwanda gorilla permit goes for $1500.

On a daily basis, over 200 gorilla permits are issued by UWA. The Permit is issued not for a particular for gorilla trekking at any sectors of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest sector that is; Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, and Nkuringo. 

The Nyakagezi Group in Mgahinga Gorilla Park is different since it is the only group there. Permits are issued for a fixed date. That date is hard to change, and it needs approval.

• $800 for foreign nonresidents
• $700 for foreign residents of East African countries (Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania)
• 300,000 UGX for East African citizens throughout the year.

Gorilla Habituation experience

Besides the normal gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, in January 2014, the Uganda wildlife Authority introduced four-hour gorilla trekking.

The four-hour trek in Bwindi offers Gorilla Habituation Experience and gives you the chance to spend 4 hours in the company of the Mountain Gorillas in Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
