Mountain Elgon hiking -Mountain Elgon is located in Eastern Uganda, Mbale district, and is shared between Uganda and Kenya. The highest point of this extinct Volcano is Wagagai, lying only on the Ugandan side. Mountain Elgon is elevated at 4321m above sea level.

The 3 days safari takes you to Eastern Uganda where you will engage in mountain climbing/hiking, a visit to sipi falls and the source of the Nile. The Safari starts and ends in Kampala

There are also other peaks found on Mount Elgon such as Sudeki peak at 4302m above sea level lying at both in Uganda and Kenya, Koitobos peak at 4222m above sea level only shared by Kenya, Mubiyi at 4210m above sea level lying on the Ugandan side and Masaba at 4161m in Uganda will all make Wagagai the highest and the main peak; that’s most frequently visited by tourists.

Mountain Elgon lies in the Eastern Arm of The Great East African Rift Valley and it’s considered to have the largest mountain base in the world due to volcanic eruption. Mountain Elgon is one of the world’s oldest and intact calderas.

Mountain Elgon is home to Uganda’s Mountain Elgon National Park, one of the country’s major national parks; it’s good for Mount Elgon Hiking safaris and this can be covered in 4- 5 Days, Hike to the 3 Siipi falls of the Siipi river flowing from the slopes of Mount Elgon into the Kyoga Basin, Guided Forest Walks, Cultural tours to the Masaba and Gishu natives of Mt Elgon, wildlife viewing and its home to several wildlife species including the elephants, buffalos, and antelopes among others. Mount Elgon National Park is also a good spot for birding with more than 250 bird species.

Please Note, The 3 Days Mount Elgon Hiking Tour starts and ends in Kampala or Entebbe though we can also start from Jinja and Mount Elgon National Park is 5 – 6 driving hours from Kampala.
