Wildlife Viewing safari at Murchison Falls National Park takes travelers to Uganda’s largest game park; the Murchison Falls National Park. It’s located in Masindi town, North West of Uganda covering an area of about 3840 Square Kilometers and its habitat to over 80 wildlife species and 0ver 450 bird species.

Murchison Falls National Park was gazette in 1926 under Idi Amin Dada’s regime and he sometimes referred to it as The Kabalega National Park.

The diversified wildlife and bird species are due to the various vegetation types within the Park; is mainly home to savanna grasslands, fight and acacia trees, River Nile and water vegetation as well as forest vegetation at the Budongo Forest.

At Murchison Falls we find 4 of The Big 5 that’s African Elephants, Leopards, lions, Buffalos and the Hippopotami, we also find the antelopes, baboons, chimpanzees at Budongo forest, warthogs, bushbucks, giraffes, white and black colobus monkeys, aquatic wildlife like the large concentration of Nile Crocodiles, waterbucks, school of hippopotami, monitor lizards, Uganda kobs and several bird species like the Blue Turaco, Crested Crane, shoebill, kingfishers, etc.

However, Murchison Falls National Park is best known /visited for its Magnificent Murchison Falls that arise from the R.Nile Waters squeezing through a narrow gorge of rocks at about 8 meters high falling off with loud thunder and beautiful rainbow sparks into the Victoria Nile.

The mighty Falls can view by both taking a boat cruise to the bottom of the falls or by hiking to the top of the falls, all offer very spectacular views to travelers.

Murchison Falls is also known for quite a number of tourist activities among which include wildlife viewing, birding, fishing, guided forest walks, chimpanzee tracking, Nile Delta boat cruise, launch cruise, game drives, etc.

Murchison Falls National Park is about 6 – 7 driving hours from Kampala or Entebbe depending on a day’s road traffic and weather.
