Mountain Sabinyo is a dormant extinct volcano and cannot erupt at any one point. The 3 Days Mountain Sabinyo Hiking tour is one of the shortest volcano hiking safaris in Uganda.

Mt Sabyinyo, “the old man’s teeth “in Kinyarwanda, derived its name from its rugged appearance of its peaks due to several crater lakes and sharp ridges making most of the sloppy slopes of Mt Sabyinyo.

Mountain Sabinyo is one of the 8 volcanoes of the Virunga ranges that’s; Bisoke, Karisimbi, Sabyinyo, Muhabura / Muhavura, Gahinga , Mikeno, Nyiragongo, and Nyamiragira.

Mt Sabyinyo is found with Mgahinga Gorilla Mountain Park “where Gold meet with Silver” together with Mt Gahinga and Mt Muhavura. Much as it’s shared by 3 countries of Virunga region, Mt Sabyinyo is only hiked form Ugandan side.

The Uganda Wildlife Authority managed to establish hand crafted wooden ladders providing a clear trail to the top of Mt Sabinyo.

The hike to Mountain Sabyinyo is quite challenging over a continuous climb on the muddy, steep and slippery rugged slopes.
