This 10-day safari offers the ultimate East African primate and wildlife experience, combining the best of Rwanda and Uganda. Starting in Kigali, you'll explore Akagera’s savannah plains, track golden monkeys in Volcanoes and mountain gorillas in Bwindi forests and continue through Uganda’s celebrated national parks—Queen Elizabeth and Kibale—for thrilling game drives and close encounters with chimpanzees. Cultural experiences with the Iby'wacu of Rwanda and Batwa Pygmies of Uganda .

Detailed Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – City Tour

Upon arrival in Kigali, you will be warmly welcomed by our safari guides and later, engage in a meaningful city tour, including a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial.  In the evening, you will check In at your hotel in Kigali for dinner and overnight stay at;

Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park

After at your hotel, you will embark on a scenic drive to Akagera National Park. Depending on your arrival time, have lunch and enjoy an evening game drive through the park’s beautiful savannah landscapes.

Day 3: Akagera Game Drive and Lake Ihema Boat Cruise

After an early breakfast, head out for a morning game drive through Akagera’s rolling plains and acacia woodlands. Look out for elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and antelope species. Return for lunch and enjoy a peaceful afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema, known for hippos, crocodiles, and an abundance of birdlife.

Day 4: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park – Iby’wacu Cultural Village Visit

After breakfast, you will exit Akagera and drive north to Volcanoes National Park. En-route, enjoy Rwanda’s scenic beauty of terraced hills and country side. Upon arrival in Musanze, visit the Iby’wacu Cultural Village for a vibrant encounter with Rwandan traditions, music, and dance.

Day 5: Golden Monkeys Tracking in Volcanoes National Park

After an early breakfast, head to the Kinigi park headquarters for a briefing. Later, embark on the search of the golden monkeys. These playful primates are found only in the bamboo forests of the Virunga Mountains. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.

Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi Forest, Uganda

On waking up, enjoy breakfast and set off for the drive across the border into Uganda, heading toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Arrive in the evening and check into your lodge.

Day 7: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi – Batwa Community Experience

Today is the highlight of your safari—an opportunity to track Uganda’s endangered mountain gorillas. Trek through Bwindi’s dense rainforest, guided by rangers to observe a habituated gorilla family. After your trek, return for lunch and later visit the Batwa community to learn about their unique forest-based lifestyle, traditional music, and ancestral customs.

Day 8: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park – Ishasha Game Drive and Boat Cruise

After breakfast, drive north through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, known for its rare tree-climbing lions. Continue to your lodge in the northern sector. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat launch along the Kazinga Channel, a wildlife hotspot where elephants, buffaloes, hippos, and over 600 bird species thrive.

Day 9: Morning Game Drive – Transfer to Kibale – Bigodi Wetland Walk

After a morning game drive in Kasenyi Plains, depart for Kibale Forest National Park. Arrive in time for lunch. In the afternoon, explore the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a birders’ paradise.

Day 10: Chimpanzee Tracking – Return to Entebbe  and Departure

Rise early, enjoy breakfast and at 7:00AM, head to the Kanyanchu Park Headquarter for registration and morning briefing on the Do’s and Don’ts when tracing for chimpanzees. Later, set off for your drive to Entebbe or Kampala.  You will Arrive in Entebbe in time for your evening flight or overnight stay.
