Bwindi Forest National Park is one of the world’s surviving thick dense natural Forests. It covers an area of about 33,000 ha and lies at the edge of the Eastern Arm of the Albertine East African Rift Valley.
Bwindi is home to diversified plant, bird, wildlife and butterfly species. It hosts over 150 tree species with 10 species endemic to the Albertine Rift and various endangered wildlife species among which are the Mountain Gorillas.
Bwindi Forest National Park is home to half of the world’s remaining Mountain gorillas (about 500). And with the other half shared between the Virunga Ranges of Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park, Uganda’s Mgahinga National Park, and Virunga National Park of The Democratic Republic of Congo.
Not only Mountain gorillas but also this thick dense rain forest is home to various primates like chimpanzees, African forest Elephants, several types of monkeys, baboons, wild pigs, snakes, and butterflies mention.As a result a hike through its canopies comes with a very rewarding experience.
