Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your safari guide, who will give you a quick overview of the exciting days ahead. Later, you’ll set off on a scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park, located in Rwanda’s northern highlands near the border with Uganda.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park (Rwanda)

The drive through the mountainous and scenic landscapes of southwestern Uganda offers spectacular views of terraced hills and local communities. The journey typically takes 4-5 hours, depending on the location of your lodge in Bwindi.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Upon arrival, you’ll check into your lodge near the park, where you can rest and prepare for your second gorilla trekking experience the following day.

For those interested in learning more about the local culture, there’s an opportunity to visit the Batwa Pygmy community in the afternoon. The Batwa people were the original inhabitants of the forest, and their cultural tours provide insight into their traditional way of life, including hunting, gathering, and storytelling.
